
Post Abortion
Post Abortion Trauma is an adverse emotional reaction to abortion. It is often a delayed reaction and can surface at any time in a person’s life and when it does, it can be confusing, painful, and overwhelming.
Women who have had abortions may experience some of the following symptoms.
Emotional
- Guilt/Shame
- Depression/Despair
- Frequent crying
- Anger/Rage
- Increased promiscuity
- Intense desire to become pregnant again
- Self-hatred
- Suicidal urges
- Drug/Alcohol abuse
- Nightmares
- Anorexia or other eating disorders
- Difficulty bonding with their children
Physical
- Menstrual problems
- Pelvic infections
- Premature births
- Breast cancer
- Miscarriages
- Infertility/Sterility
- Tubal pregnancies
